OSPW Conference

I had the opportunity to attend this conference this past weekend. It was amazing to say the least. We had many speakers who were phenomenal. Some of them were some of the top 10 photographers in the world.  The speakers were- Gene Higa, Mike Larson, Jim Garner, Kevin Swan, and Mike Sklute (Canon explorer of light). These guys were fabulous and definitely brought a great perspective and helped me understand a lot! I took lots of notes:)We also had the chance to photograph models both days of the conference. Some of them were at Pike Place and people kept coming up to ask and asking ‘whats going on??’ ‘Is he/she a celebrity??’ Haha…it was awesome. The people who put this together are awesome as well. I need to give them credit for doing it, because it was truly a great experience.

So on to the pictures! This model that I am posting today is Nyema. She has been modeling for several years and pretty much worked it the whole time. She new exactly how to move her body and where to look. It can be really tough when you have between 10-20 photographers (depending on the day or model) all taking your picture at once. It can be really confusing and overwhelming with everyone yelling out diretions and ‘Look at me’, or ‘turn your head, tilt your chin’.  I loved how her pictures turned out. The lighting was gorgeous and thank goodness it didn’t rain. I will post more pictures throughout the week of my other models. Oh and by the way- the models I shot are all ‘Senior’ Models!:)Enjoy!

Victor Saidov - Hey Jessica,
Your work is awesome! I am really liking these pictures you took at the OSPW. With so many other photographers on the way, kudos to you for getting these cool shots! Finding your way around the crowd of photographers, you’d be a great red carpet shooter as well! :)
It was a great weekend and a lot of pleasure meeting all you awesome photographers! Keep up your great work!

Vanessa - What a great shoot! LOVE them!!! The first two…AMAZING!!!!

Newborn Baby Collin

I had the opportunity to photograph this sweet baby boy today.  He weighed 9lbs 15oz when he was born 5 days ago, but yet seemed so tiny! With all newborns, you photograph them indoors using available window light. I was a little nervous because this morning was extremely overcast, not really bright at all, and I was worried about not having enough light for these pictures. Imagine my delight when I got to their house and found out they had a sun room! It had 2 walls of windows plus sky lights…it was a dream! It made the lighting so incredibly easy, and boy did I luck out!

Rain, Rain, Go Away! And a giveaway?

I know this seems to be the topics of many blogs lately. With living here in Seattle, it seems like it is something that photographers constantly battle- the weather. Today is one of those stay inside, curl up on the coach, drink hot chocolate kind of days. I am not really fond of taking pictures in the wet rain, so I am leaving you with an inside picture of CJ. She is wearing a new hat that her Grandma crocheted for her.  My new favorite thing are baby hats and accessories. I love to decorate those little round faces and bald heads with something cute.  So just a question to see who is paying attention out there:  If I had a cute hat giveaway for one of these hats (in a color of your choice)would you want one? I would open it up to anyone in any state. I will probably put the contest up at the end of this week or the beginning of next!

Sun Baby

We had a couple days of just OH SO BEAUTIFUL weather! I put cj in her easter dress and decided to take advantage of the beautiful light. My husband wanted some ‘daddy-daughter’ pictures as well, so I made sure to include him.  Could this weather be a preview of what summer will be like? I hope so!
